HOW TO LOVE A MIYA
SakuAtsu & SunaOsa Zine
Unofficial fan zine celebrating
Sakusa/Atsumu and Suna/Osamu from Haikyuu!!
Zine information will be updated as details are finalised.
Check out our twitter or our GoogleDoc for more details!
How to Love a Miya is a zine celebrating the pairings Sakusa Kiyoomi / Miya Atsumu, and Suna Rintarou / Miya Osamu.
This project will involve artists and writers. Content will only be SFW and will be slice of life themed, but is not strictly canon-compliant. It may span any time of their lives (ie. highschool, timeskip, the inbetween).
Information written here is subject to change. The zine is an ongoing project that will involve the opinions of accepted artists and writers. We may also have to adapt to any unpredicted events life may throw at us.
This Carrd contains all the finalized important information for our zine. Alternatively, you can check out our twitter or our GoogleDoc for regular updates.
We’re looking forward to putting together a fun zine — thanks for coming along for the ride with us!

FREQUENTLY ANSWERED QUESTIONS:
GENERAL:
Q: Is the zine for profit?
A: Yes, the project’s profits, if any, will be split among contributors.
Q: It has been mentioned that “slice of life” isn’t strictly limited to canon. What sort of “slice of life” content would you be after?
A: If you wish to use "slice of life" in an AU setting, we would prefer quieter and more serene "everyday" moments between your chosen pairing/s. For example, a wild car chase would not be our idea of "slice of life", but a quiet soft moment in an alleyway after a heist could be more suitable. Similarly, a dynamic magic scene probably wouldn't suit the "slice of life" theme, but the pairing/s sitting down together and watching pieces of small magic unfold in their hands would probably be closer to what we're looking for. When the time comes for contributors to let us know of their ideas, the mod team will be open for discussion and ready to help point them in the direction the zine is after, if need be!
Q: Will this zine have guest contributors?
A: There are no plans to have guest contributors for this zine. All applicants will be selected after having gone through the application process.
Q: Will the mods be contributing to the zine?
A: Any mods who wish to contribute to the zine will also undergo the application process, along with everyone else who wishes to apply, to ensure a fair selection the whole time.
Q: Are you accepting any more mods or intern mods?
A: Our mod team is pretty set, so we are not taking on additional members to the team.
Q: After the zine is completed, will we be able to post our pieces on social media?
A: Yes! We only ask that contributors wait a few weeks after we have shipped out people's orders (because of how inconsistent international shipping is) before posting full works.
Q: What is a “pinch hitter”?
A: A pinch hitter is a substitute — someone we turn to if a contributor needs to drop out of the zine for whatever reason. The pinch hitter will then create a piece instead of the initial contributor, but most likely with less time (we would still need everyone to submit by the deadline, but we can discuss extensions with the pinch hitter/s who step in).
ZINE CREATION:
Q: How many artists/writers will be accepted for the zine?
A: The final count of contributors we will be accepting will be based on the responses of the Interest Check and will be shared when the Application Process begins.
Q: How will contributors be compensated?
A: Contributors will get a free PDF copy of the zine regardless of the project’s profits. Monetary profits will be split among everyone. If profits allow it, contributors can choose to be given a copy of the zine and any merchandise; remaining monetary profits under their name will still be sent. Monetary profits will be distributed via Paypal. We will also be in talks with contributors about how to best organise for shipping.
Q: Could a contributor decline being paid and have their share of the zine’s profits be given to other contributors?
A: Yes, that can be an option if the contributor so wishes.
Q: Is there a minimum age limit for applicants/contributors?
A: The minimum age will be 15 years old. All contributors must be able to receive money via PayPal (which has an age limit of 18+, therefore minors contributing to the zine will need to either use a friend’s or parent’s account, or can choose to forgo their share of the zine’s split profits).
Q: What are the zine’s methods of keeping in contact?
A: Our main communication with contributors will be through a Discord server, though this is not compulsory — we can contact contributors via email if they prefer that.
PURCHASING:
Q: What payment options will be available when it comes to purchasing?
A: Payment options will depend on the shopfront we use for the zine sales, so it’s still a bit early to say. PayPal will definitely be an option we’ll be using, but we cannot confirm other payment methods just yet.
Q: Will the shipping be safe/reliable?
A: Once the zines are shipped out, international shipping will be out of our hands (literally, metaphorically) but we will definitely look at the most reliable options available to us.
Q: Which mod will be in charge of packing/shipping the zines, and which country will they be shipped from?
A: Mod Chai will be in charge of packing and shipping everything. She is based in the Philippines.
Q: Will the zine be available for Group Order purchases?
A: Yes! This will certainly be an option we’ll be open to.
Q: Will you accept orders from the UK?
A: We strongly encourage potential UK customers to be part of Group Orders, particularly for total amounts exceeding £135.

ARCHIVED (Group Orders & Applications F.A.Q.)
GROUP ORDERS:
We are more than happy to collaborate with anyone organizing group orders for HtLaM! Here is the information we have so far:
The G.O.M. (Group Order Manager) will need to collect standard customer information of everyone placing an order:
full namedelivery addressemailitems to orderprice/s of item/s
and put everything into our spreadsheet (link). The spreadsheet will need to be downloaded so it can be filled out.
The G.O.M. will then need to email the filled sheet to: [email protected] before March 7th (date that pre-orders close). If possible, we ask that G.O.M.'s update us on their group order items a week before this date so we have an idea of what to expect — but this is not mandatory, it's just to give ourselves a heads up!
HtLAM Mods will send the G.O.M. an invoice for the combined orders to collect payment.
The estimated delivery fee will be relayed to the G.O.M.
An invoice for the confirmed delivery fee will be sent to the G.O.M. once it is finalized.
The group's shipping tracking number will be provided once the group order has been shipped out.
U.K. ORDERS:
Due to the complications of VAT for the United Kingdom, we strongly encourage potential U.K. customers to be part of Group Orders, particularly for total amounts exceeding £135.
NOTE:
If our stretch goals are reached, the stretch goal merchandise items are given per eligible bundle—in this case this is the Full Bundle (“Happy Ending” bundle, which includes the zine, the PDF zine, and all merchandise items) and the Zine Bundle ("First Date" bundle, which includes the zine and the PDF zine) unless specially declined.
Group Orders are shipped through a local courier that is partnered with DHL.
If you have any questions or concerns, you can send us an email, or we can be reached through our twitter.

APPLICATIONS:
Q: How do I apply to be a contributor?
A: Click here (goes to the Applications section of this Carrd) for more information and links to the Application forms.
Q: Can I apply for more than 1 role?
A: Yes, you can apply for both the Writers role and the Artists role if you wish, but you will only be selected for 1 role.
Q: How many artists/writers will be accepted for the zine?
A: We are looking at 18–21 artists/merch artists, and 7–9 writers for the zine.
Q: What will you be looking for in the works of writers/artists applying for the zine?
A: For more information, please refer to our Application Guidelines section.
Q: How are applicants judged? Is it a blind process or will names be attached?
A: The applications will be judged as a blind process to ensure a fair selection for all.
Q: Will writers and artists applying for the zine require SakuAtsu/SunaOsa to be featured in their works?
A: Specifically ship art or fics of SakuAtsu or SunaOsa are not required, but at least one of the works should feature at least one of the characters (either Sakusa and/or Atsumu and/or Suna and/or Osamu). Your other writing samples can be about other Haikyuu characters or outside the Haikyuu universe if you'd like, but the more we can get an idea of how you write Sakusa and/or Atsumu and/or Suna and/or Osamu, the better we can get an idea of whether you'd be a good fit for the zine.
Q: Do applicants have to have prior zine experience?
A: For applicants, no prior zine experience is necessary. Applications will be judged according to quality of pieces. For more information, please refer to our Application Guidelines section.
Q: Is English fluency required to contribute to the zine?
A: This will depend on which role (writer / artist / merchandise artist) you are applying for. The zine will be in English, and this does include the fics, so if you're applying as a writer, your writing samples will need to have English fluency. If you are applying as an artist, you just need to be able to communicate with us. If your art/comic has small amounts of text, the mod team can help you with minor grammar/spelling issues.
Q: Am I able to edit my application after I have submitted it (to update my pieces, update contact details, etc.)?
A: As long as you do so before the contributor applications close (on October 17, 11:59pm GMT+10) then yes, that's fine. If you have trouble accessing your form, just let us know and we'll look into it with you.
